If you choose to write anything, especially creatively, it is inevitable that you will be faced with writer’s block at some point. It doesn’t matter how much experience you have or how many books you’ve written. From the Pulitzer Prize-winning, best selling author to the novice who writes simply for the sheer joy of it and as a neat way to manage stress, it is an unavoidable reality.

So, what can you do about it? I have one simple little technique that I guarantee will break you out of your writer’s block and put you back on the path to completing your project. Are you ready? Here it is. Give yourself permission to write garbage. That’s it! Allow yourself to NOT be perfect, just for a few minutes, because you’re not. Take the pressure off and just write. Get outside of your head and don't criticize what you’ve written. That’s what editing is for. When you turn off that critical Cyclops of an eye off and just write whatever the moment draws out of you, you’ll forget all about your block and be chapters down the road by the time you even realize it. Just write!
